Science Olympiad is a highly competitive Science Club and Team. Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets consisting of a series of competitive science events. Students engage in events that encompass all facets of Science and Engineering. Students will be assigned 3-5 specific events and will be matched up with partners to prepare and study for events and/or builds. Students who excel in Science Olympiad tend to be scientifically curious self-starting independent learners. Science Olympiad coaches do very little direct instruction with the students, but instead act as guides to help the students along their path of scientific inquiry.

Description

Welcome to the Middle School Swim and Dive Club! We hope it will prepare you for a potential swim and dive career in high school by highlighting key skills and drills in the four major competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and/or diving (forwards, inwards, reverse, straights, and twisters), teach you how to be safe in and out of the water, and to have fun with your friends.

Practices are open for 6th-8th graders, boys and girls, and all levels of experience--even if you do not have any experience. We will be providing training to those who have never swum or dove before. As coaches, we are here to help you become the best student-athlete possible. We are excited to have you here!

Swimmer and Diver Expectations:

• Always be respectful of teammates and coaches
• We are responsible for taking out and putting away any equipment.-
• Please be respectful towards all equipment since it is shared with groups and classes.
• Please be respectful of the facility - keep the pool area and locker rooms clean.

Things to Bring:

• Swimsuit
• Towel
• Goggles (there are extras, but only a few)

We will be supplying the kids with other equipment, such as kickboards, pull buoys, paddles, and  fins. But if the kids do have any of these aforementioned  items, please bring them to practice.

WEB, which stands for "Where Everybody Belongs" is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains selected mentors from the 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 6th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th grade success.
